Cristiano Ronaldos honest opinion of Barcelona emerges from Miralem Pjanic chat – Mirror Online

Miralem Pjanic has revealed that ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo was fully supportive of his shock move to Barcelona – despite his Real Madrid alleigances.

Pjanic joined the La Liga giants at the start of the summer window, with midfielder Arthur moving to Juventus as part of the deal.

Ronaldo heads into his third season in Turin, still looking to bring the Champions League to the Serie A winners.

And the departure of Pjanic was a blow to the Old Lady, with the Bosnian international chipping in with eight assists and three goals last term.

But Pjanic has revealed that Ronaldo, who netted 18 times in El Classico matches, played a key role in his eventual decision to make the switch.

Asked if Ronaldo was against the move, he told Mundo Deportivo: “The opposite.”

“When everything was done he told me that he was very happy for me, that I would be happy here because the game in Spain is very good and strong.

“It was bad for him that I was leaving Juventus, but he told me that he thinks I will have a lot of fun in a great team like Barcelona.

“Cristiano has been very professional at Juventus, he is a player who has shown many great things and who has been very important in the dressing room by setting an example for everyone.”

Earlier this summer, rumours were rife that Ronaldo could join Pjanic in the Camp Nou, although after a much drawn out saga, both he and Lionel Messi remained with their current clubs.

Ronaldo will be hoping to meet Pjanic in the later stages of the competition, where he will have yet another opportunity to get one over his old rivals.

At the age of 35, the Portugal legend shows no sign of slowing down, netting a goal in Juventus’ opening day win over Sampdoria last weekend.
