Princess Beatrice has broken her silence on her secret wedding, describing the royal celebration as “so much fun” and making a sweet joke about her dress.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s eldest daughter married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 36, at a small service in Windsor in July.
The Queen and Prince Philip were among a small group of guests who were allowed to attend due to the government’s Covid-19 restrictions.
The royal family shared a number of photos from the day and both Fergie and the Queen have congratulated the newlyweds on social media, however this is the first time Beatrice, 32, has spoken about the day.
Announcing the winners of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice’s Kids Summer Art Competition, she commented on one of the drawings which showed the charity’s mascot, Russell the Bear, at a wedding.
Praising runner up Chloe’s entry, Beatrice said: “I mean, Chloe, Russell Bear at a wedding. Do you think this might be my wedding?
“Because I had the chance to get married this summer and it was so much fun.”
She went on to make a sweet joke about her wedding dress, a stunning vintage gown she borrowed from her grandmother, the Queen.
She said: “But I’m not sure if I looked as smart as Russell Bear does in his outfit.”
Beatrice has been patron of the hospice since 2012, and regularly visits to meet staff and families.
Speaking about their work back in 2016, she said: “We really need to think of a new word for hospice, as this is so much more than that; it is a magical place, it’s a family, and I’m delighted to be a part of that family.”
The sweet moment comes just days after Beatrice’s sister, Eugenie, and her husband Jack Brooksbank announced they are expecting their first child.

“The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.”
Sarah told the Daily Mail: “I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child.
