The second LaLiga win for Real Madrid, who beat Valladolid at the Alfredo Di Stefano thanks to a Vinicius Jr. goal. The forward had this to say about the team’s performance: “I’m happy with the performance. The first half was difficult, the coach brought me and Asensio on after the break to create more chances and changed the game. Today was a different match to the Betis game, but the important thing is that we managed to win both”.
“It’s the start of the season, we haven’t played any friendly matches and it’s difficult. We didn’t have much time to train, not like last season. We know that if we keep a clean sheet, we can win matches because we have players who score a lot of goals during the season and we’re working on the offensive part to keep improving”.
Courtois: “We played better in the second half”
“The three points are what matter, we have to keep improving. I had to make good saves and then we didn’t finish the game off and they put us under the cosh a little”.
“We lacked a bit of pace with the ball, increase that speed a bit because they defend very well with two banks of four. When we upped the pace in the second half, we looked better”.
“The system doesn’t matter. If we’re flexible from a tactical sense we’re able to surprise teams. With 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, whatever it is. When the coach has got a plan, we have to execute it well and play a bit quicker”.
“I didn’t see him. I sent him a message and he told me what was wrong. He looked great in training to me this week and I was looking forward to seeing him tonight or on Sunday. He was training brilliantly, with the speed I’m used to seeing from him. It’s a bit of a set-back for him but it’s not his ankle so I’m sure he’ll be back with us after the international break”.
