Elton John set to lift the lid on Rod Stewart spat after secret feud was exposed – Mirror Online

Sir Elton John could be about to reveal all about his feud with fellow music icon Rod Stewart.

The bickering pair haven’t spoken for two years – despite rocker Rod’s best attempts to patch things up.

Sir Rod says the ‘stubborn’ singers fell out after he poked fun at his retirement tour.

He accepts he criticised his farewell gigs, calling them ‘money-grabbing’ – but wants to patch things up with his former pal.

Elton is also said to be particularly angry over a dig Rod made at Rocketman, the 2018 biopic made about him.

Now Elton, 73, is said to be preparing to set the record straight by writing a new chapter for his autobiography Me.

“Rod’s continued barbed and personal criticism of his recent successes has crossed a line beyond their usual friendly rivalry,” a source told The Sun.

“Elton cherishes his friendship with Rod and hasn’t wanted to go public so made attempts to contact Rod directly to clear the air.

“‘When his requests to speak were either knocked back or went unanswered, Elton felt compelled to set the record straight with this new chapter in his autobiography.”

Rod told Chris Evans on his podcast that his olive branch has been ignored.

The Maggie May singer said that he had invited the star and his family to his home in Essex, where he has a football pitch in his grounds.

The Mirror Online has approached both artists for comment.

Rod revealed: “We don’t talk to each other anymore. Big falling out.

“Last time I emailed him I said, ‘I’ve got this football pitch, would you like the boys to come up?’ You know, cos they both love football.”

Sir Elton allegedly never replied.

It has been reported that the former Watford chairman was hurt by Rocketman being compared to Abba musical Mamma Mia in a cheeky comment by Sir Rod.

Last year, Rod told Dermot O’Leary that neither would pick up the phone in an unhelpful stalemate.

“We’re not talking nowadays – he has got the hump with me now,” he said.

“We’re both very stubborn, so neither of us will call each other.”
