Liverpool squad numbers for 2020/21 confirmed – Liverpool Echo

Liverpool’s squad numbers for the 2020/21 season have been confirmed, as they continue their Premier League title defence.

The Reds have made three new additions to their squad, with Kostas Tsimikas joining from Olympiacos, Thiago arriving from Bayern Munich and Diogo Jota trading Molineux for Anfield after completing a switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There have also been a number of departures, with Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana among those to move on after both spending six-year stints on Merseyside while youngsters Rhian Brewster and Ki-Jana Hoever also left for pastures new.

Tsimikas, the first of the close-season arrivals and the only one of the three to join before Liverpool kicked off their season in September, has taken the number 21 shirt previously worn by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the midfielder switched to 15.

Thiago, meanwhile, has taken over Lovren’s number 6 shirt, while Jota – who wore 18 last season at Wolves – now wears 20 for Liverpool following Lallana’s departure.

Elsewhere, there have been a few squad number changes, the most notable of which sees Curtis Jones switch from 48 to 17 after breaking through last season. The number 17 was most recently worn by Ragnar Klavan, and has been vacant since the Estonian left for Cagliari in 2018.

Returning loanees Nat Phillips, Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson have all kept the squad numbers which belonged to them before spending part or all of last season away on loan.
